Changing Your CNet password

You can change your CNet password from the CNet account management page (just select "Change your CNet password"). To change your password, you'll need to authenticate that you are the account owner: generally you do this by providing your current CNet password and CNetID.

If you don't know your CNetID, you can look it up by using the Campus Directory (LDAP).

If You Don't Remember Your Password

If you don't know your current CNet password, you can answer the question you created when you either created (if your account was created after September 2002) or re-certified (around September or October 2002) your account.

Go to the "Change CNet password" link on the CNet home page and provide the requested information – except for the password – and you will be prompted for the answer to your question. The answer to your question is a minimum of ten characters, not counting punctuation and spacing.

If You Can't Answer Your Question

If you are unable to answer your question and do not remember your password, you will need to go to the Identification and Privileges Office at 1100 East 57th Street, Room 100F (in the Regenstein Library) with a picture ID to reset your password in person.

More information on picking good passwords can be found on our Safe Computing site's Choosing Good Passwords page. Once you've successfully changed your password, you'll need to wait approximately one hour for the changes to propagate through all of our systems.
