Automatic Reply to Incoming Email (Vacation)

Note: This autoreply walkthrough is only for users of cMail, and will not work for users of xMail. xMail users should use the following walkthrough to set up their automatic replies.

Problem:

I will be out of town, and would like all incoming email to receive an automated email response. How can I have my account automatically respond to email when it comes in?

Solution

In order to create an automated vacation response, log into Webmail and go to Options → Automatic Reply and fill out the directions on that form.

Alternately, you log directly in that portion of the CNet website by going to:

https://cnet.uchicago.edu/cmail/autoreply

Enter your CNetIID and password to log in, then click on "Enable automatic reply" then enter the subject and body of the email you would like returned to your correspondences. Vacation messages won't be sent to mailing lists and will only be sent once to each unique correspondent per week.

When you want to disable automatic reply, just log back in through the CNet website and uncheck "Enable automatic reply."
