xMail Auto Reply

How do I set up an automatic reply (vacation)?

You can use either Outlook or xMail's web front end to configure your xMail account to automatically reply to incoming email. Note -- any given correspondent will only receive the automatic reply message once.

Setting up automatic reply using Outlook 2003

  • Click ToolsOut of Office Assistant.
  • Type a message in the auto reply field.
  • Click OK.

Setting up automatic reply over the web

  • Log in to https://xmail.uchicago.edu/.
  • Click Options.
  • The first item is the Out of Office Assistant.
  • Select the radio button for I'm currently out of the office.
  • Type your reply message in the AutoReply only once to each sender with the following text: field.
  • Click SaveClose.
