Setting up Samsung Blackjack (Windows Mobile 5/6) for xMail

These instructions will work with most similar Windows Mobile devices.

Here is a basic walkthrough for configuring this Windows Mobile device to work with xMail:

  1. Go to Start → Activesync → Menu → Configure Server.
    • Server address: xmail.uchicago.edu.
    • Check "This server requires an encrypted (SSL) connection".
  2. Click Next.
  3. In the next menu:
    • Username: Your CNetID.
    • Password: CNet Password.
    • Domain: adlocal.
    • Check the "Save Password" box (required for automatic syncing).
  4. Click Next.
  5. Choose the data that you would like to synchronize (at least Calendar & Email).
  6. Click Finish.

You may get a message that Exchange has the ability to synchronize items automatically as they arise. Click Yes to allow this, and you will have PUSH enabled ("Blackberry-like behavior").

You can edit the peak schedule times that your device will sync. To do so, go to Start → Activesync → Menu → Schedule. Click Menu → Peak Times to specify the times, then click Done.
