Mozilla Pop-Up Blocking

One of the most helpful features on the Mozilla web browser (versions 1.3 and later) is its ability to block unrequested pop-up windows automatically. Once you enable this feature, you should greatly reduce, if not eliminate, the pop-up ads that clutter your desktop while you're browsing the web.

To enable automatic pop-up blocking, go to Mozilla → Preferences → Privacy & Security → Popup Windows → Block unrequested popup windows. You can configure exceptions to this rule by clicking on "Allowed Sites" and adding a site. Configure notification of a suppressed pop-up either through an icon, a sound, both, or neither.

In later versions of Mozilla, this feature may be enabled automatically.

Please note: some web pages which use pop-up windows may not work with this setting. The University Webmail's system will work but if you encounter any difficulties with other sites that use pop-up windows, trying turning this setting off. If pop-up blocking was the problem, you can enable an exception by clicking on "Allowed Sites", entering the URL of the site, and clicking "Add".
